This is particularly true when it comes to the work at home call center. As it turns out, a growing segment of at home workers are providing customer service to businesses from the comforts of their own homes. This is an option for the person who want to work at home, but does not wish to bare the responsibilities of running their own business.

When I conducted a search just moments ago, I came across a call center stating that they have 600 openings. Essentially, these businesses are looking for people with a proper phone etiquette, a professional presence, strong computer skills, and the ability to not become easily diverted from the task at hand. Additionally, these jobs generally require that you have a minimum of one year prior customer service experience, preferably phone support. Not surprisingly, if you speak more than one language, you become a more desirable candidate.
I know that there is someone who is reading this article and thinking that they do not have a good enough phone voice to be a work at home call representative. To this person I say, do not rule yourself out just yet. The truth is that there is a growing faction of businesses who are opting to go with a live chat service in lieu of verbal customer support. This is becoming a very common practice for new businesses.
Nonetheless, before accepting a position with a work at home call center, make sure that you know all details up front. You should be clear on how you will be compensated, which hours of the day you will be expected to work, what technical equipment you will need, whether or not you will have to purchase such equipment with your own money, the duration of your position, your expected call or chat volume, etc. Also make sure that everything which you have stipulated to is in writing, so that you have legal recourse should the issue arise.
All in all, work at home call centers prove valuable to the individual who wishes to work at home, but does not want to own and operate an online business. I believe that this is a viable alternative. However, you need to research any company before you decide to work for them to avoid future problems.
